NEVER AGAIN

POETRY IN VOICE

NEVER AGAIN

By Nadia Irshād

New Paragraph

He laughed in her face when he said never again doesn't apply to you

He fell to the floor cackling, pushing her away from her mother's breast

He said murder by pressing a button isn't a crime

He punched her in the stomach when she cried,

snarling I'm going to shut her up permanently

and pointing his finger at her mother said, you will never see her on the news

-Brother Malcolm X reminded you of this in our collective dream
