New Paragraph
the most envied drops of water in all the water in the world
were the drops that dripped from his forehead
the water you wash with
before dawn
after you've pulled yourself out of bed
in winter, shivering and pulling covers
hunched tripping ahead
the drips that you wash with
the ones that are tasked with waking you up
they envy the drops that dripped from his forehead
over 1400 years ago
those drops exist, sometimes within the clouds
sometimes they flow through taps
and in the early morning dribble from the leaves of plants
flowers, the most beautiful flaming rose
a vermillion hibiscus
and a date palm
the cool blue-green glacier water in the lake above us
envies all of them
the most envied drops of water in all the water in the world
are the drops that hold the wall between your skin and the earth
the breeze between your forehead and the darkest depth
that long tunnel we all stand at the edge of when we close our eyes
the most envied drops of water in all the water in the world
soak the mat, where your forehead touches the earth
and it sighs
as it nears the throne just then before it's hugged and engulfed
by the roots of a tree that will take this drop and allow it to touch the sky
through it’s highest branch
this is the most envied drop of water in all the world
by everything moist, clouds, fog and dew
the tear of a mother as she beholds her child for the very first time
the ocean of light is found in the darkest part of the night
life there, is born
at the root
