New Paragraph
your vaccines won't save you
that big house you mortgaged
pay your entire pay cheque to
the bank that allows you to live in it
the one that's fooled you into renting it until maybe 30 years from now
by when you will certainly be trapped six feet underground
How will you enjoy it?
or burned up and in a tacky dish on your nephew's mantle
it won't keep you safe and sound
your chosenness won't save you
that way you look at yourself in the mirror
that habit where you tilt your head for the photographer
you giggle and say just capture my good side
that won't do much of anything to save you either
your victimhood won't save you
the way everything is because of something that happened
to you when you were seven or when your grandmother was just a girl
or your great grandfather was orphaned
you rape, pillage and steal to make things right
all that occurs is your heart darkens
you are completely eclipsed from both the sun and the moon
your cities block the stars
your heart doesn't know truth but just how everything has never been fair to you
a state has no right to be anything
it is not a human
but like you it's dead just not buried yet
everything starts and ends
that is the story of every empire
